Tucson AZ,
Hey guys, I'm thinking about getting a set of lifters refaced. My cam still has .002 taper across the lobes and looks good but the lifters are starting to lose the crown. Schneider Racing cams says they can reface them for $4 each which seems like a good deal. Just curious if anyone has had any experience with Schneider Racing or ever had there lifters refaced for that matter. Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks! thumbs

Yes, they did a set for my Buick nailhead, but I was running lower spring pressure as compared to race engines...they do great work BTW!

They also reground an Isky Cam for me, and found that my Isky had ground the right and left banks off by 10*. The engine runs amazing now, as you can imagine. They have a computer driven cam grinder as well.

You can use new lifters on a used cam, but not the other way around. you will still need to use break-in lube on the lobes and lifter faces, and break the cam in just like a new one.

It depends on how it's done. There are lifter refacing machines that actually grinds the lifter to a point, not a radius. That is a for sure failure. If they can put the raduis back on it than go for it, but not if it's ground to a point.

Post pics if you can please. If they can put the radius back on them that would be cool. If they are just using a Sunnen style tappet grinder they won't have a radius but a point.

Mine came with the correct convex radius, however my spring pressures are not that high, and lift was at around .450 lift with 1.5 rockers.

If I was running a high performance cam and springs, I would just buy new lifters. As long as the cam was not worn.
