Right on! It looks like they still have registration open. I have been contemplating registering with the GTX but go back and forth. Either way, I'll see ya there. [/quote] There's 12 classes, so should be one to fit your GTX, a guy called Calvert the other day with a '68 GTX that said he was in my class too, was a drag car he's putting back on the street, Curtis was his name. Yeah, the distance from Tuscon to Phoenix is like 120 miles from what I'm told, but 325-340 to Fontana if Google is correct, hopefully the temps will be lower being the end of October. I'm more concerned with me, I haven't made a pass in about 5 years, have never ran it on drag radials, (which are on it now), and being how the 'Cuda trunk is worthless, can't carry a spare. If this becomes a yearly thing, I will rig up a trailer, or maybe run the Valiant I'm putting together, that one would be slower and in driver class, cause no roll bar.

Still bouncing around the idea, haven't committed one way or the other. I'm still finishing up the transmission rebuild on the wife's daily driver and she should be having the baby any day now so my minds not entirely focused on just one thing. It wouldn't take much to get the GTX ready, I just feel kinda weird bringing a low 12, possibly high 11 second ride to this event. On the flip side, I'd hate to see a poor turn out that would discourage the return of it next year. Also, not really fair for me to complain about the lack of West coast racing if I'm not supporting it. Either way I'll be there, even if only to spectate. Who knows though, we'll see what this weekend brings and go from there I guess.

Very cool, my Cuda is Lime Light with a 4" cowl hood, see ya there...hopefully.
And Bad340fish, at least the middle of nowhere there has a nice view with pretty countryside, we will have a dull, tan desert view of sand, lol.

They were supposed to announce it August 1st, but didn't until August 21st, I was wondering how many cars are entered. I hope they don't cancel it this year, or stop having because lack of entries in following years. I'm looking forward to it, been like 4 years since I've made a pass down a track, and looking forward to meeting some of the guys from Moparts.

That is great, but if more cars don't get signed up I wonder if they will 86 it? This is what I'm afraid of. I think there could be a couple of contributing factors for the lack of participation at this time. 1. It's coming right off Drag Week so maybe the majority of those interested in pursuing something like this have already gotten there fill? 2. It was short notice. As such either word hasn't gotten around and/or there isn't enough time to get the car's ready as has been previously mentioned. 3. The route is not appealing to some? 4. What seems to be par for the course, West coast racing is a dying thing. Whether it is due to the weak economy out here or other, time and time again the turn outs just aren't there. Regardless, I printed and dropped some flyers at the local speed shop several weeks ago and have been telling anyone that will listen about it. Hopefully people can continue to spread the word and make something happen. I'd really like to see this work out, not only for Hot Rod, but for all of us.
