I just picked up a 96 Ram 1500 with tilt wheel. When you tilt the column down with the headlights on, the headlights flicker and/or go off. Common issue? I'm guessing the wiring to/from the multi/function switch is compromised. Just looking for info and suggestions, such as easier to pull column or not, etc. Thanks.

Isn't the column covered by a couple of removable plastic pieces?

I ordered a remote start unit and figured I'd wait to address the headlight issue when I install the start box. I expect your suggestion to be correct, since the previous owner used the tilt function every time he drove the truck. I will post what I find and my repair method.
