I have a 93 D150 with the Magnum V6/NV4500 trans and I am thinking about a V8 swap . Is this a bolt in swap ? I have done some research and found some conflicting information. I know I need the engine, mounts, manual trans V8 computer and maybe flywheel. No, I don't want a modern Hemi. Lol ! That's over budget. I live in the rust belt so I am unlikely to find a donor truck. It's going to have to be pieced together.

1st off, be damn sure you have a nv4500. Would have expected a nv2500. Should be cast iron case. 2500 is not very strong and a grenade behind a 5.9 magnum with spirited driving

next, the engine swap is about as simple as it gets. Will need the 5.2 or 5.9 computer depending on what engine you decide on and need to splice in the wiring pigtails for the 7 and 8 injectors into your V6 harness. Strongly recommend the 93 factory service manual for that.

Then engine brackets. I always get this confused but I think you can remove the v6 brackets, but make sure you get the proper 5.2 or 5.9 motor mount brackets for the v8

Flywheel is still specific to the 5.2 or 5.9 those years, not both. Recommend buying one, but they are cheap

Hopefully scratchy will get in on this
