I need a disc brake of course non power 4 bolt master cylinder. I'm looking at the New Raybestos MC36460. Is there a difference in master cylinders from power to non power? Looking on Rockauto and other sites, there seems to be the same part number with or without and additional letter M. Some don't say at all but they all look the same. Is there a difference between power and non power masters? Thanks in advance.

Try Wagner # MC80568. That is what I have listed for a 77 D-100 w/manual brakes. Will also fit a '77 D-150 with Vacuum brakes. Go figure!

I looked that one up and its a two bolter with a round flange I dont see bolting to the firewall. Then again Ive seen two and four bolt power brake boosters, engine side.

I believe the master cylinders were the same, power and non-power. The difference was the non-power came with the push rod that bolted to the brake pedal. After a few years, the non=power master came without the push rod, you had to re-use your old push rod. That meant you usually needed to pull apart you old master, and split the master cylinder plunger to get the rod out so you could re-use it in your new master.

For several years the power and non-power used the same master. That may have changed when Dodge went from the 4 bolt masters to the two bolt masters. I believe the non=power kept the 4 bolt masters until the supply was exhausted. Gene

Ok makes sense. I noticed that all of the new and remaned masters have the same bore size and practically same part number but are each listed seperately for manual and another part number for power. So ill take mine off and see whats going on. Thanks!

I believe the difference in the leverage was in the pedal assembly for power vs manual.

Seems that Cardone uses the same master for everything now. I actually went in the back at a VatoZone and checked all the boxes, same one with different part numbers...
