OK, my 2005 DODGE dually 3500 is in need of rotors and front and rear brake pads. I checked Rock auto and the only carry POWER STOP and in checking since it does not say, they are made in China. I am also told that Raybestos is also made in china.

Any suggestions on ones NOT made in China and a supplier?

I'd like to know too. Seems like EVERY replacement rotor for every vehicle is made in China. The only US made stuff I see are $250-300 PER ROTOR!! as they are high performance replacements meant for sports cars.

Where do the OEMs have their rotors cast? I know the dodge motors are out of Mexico... I'd settle for Mexican made rotors if that's what OEM uses

"I have heard" The three most dangerous words.....Any idiot can spout off about anything and before long it's the God's truth. Bah! And those unattributed statements are scarcely ever positive. I believe many people say things just to feel power by getting someone else stirred up.

If you want to be sure what you're buying, go to your local parts store and handle the part yourself before buying. Rockauto exists because people are looking for lower-priced parts. So complaining that Rockauto sells Chinese or whatever third-world item is like complaining that you can't get a decent steak at McDonalds.

There's another ignorant assumption at work here and that is that third-world countries can't make a quality piece. I suppose your smartphone was made in the US? Computer? Television set?

The last Aimco rotors I bought were made in Canada. The last Raybestos Professional Grade stuff I bought was made in the USA. The latest MOOG stabilizer bar links I bought for my Korean car were made in Mexico.

I worked with pumps for years, and most of the components are castings, mostly cast iron. It is harder and harder to get castings made in the US because running a foundry is a dirty, dangerous business. Safety and environmental concerns are pushing the foundries out into countries where health and safety are not as important.

20 years ago I specified a Diesel engine to run a large pump. We got a Cummins V12 and a beautiful piece it was. As I walked around the engine one day, admiring it, I noticed on a nameplate the words, "Manufactured in Pune, India". Cummins has a big plant there. It didn't seem to bother the engine to have that plate riveted to it. I was a little chagrined, as I thought a Cummins would certainly be made in USA.

I have used American rotors, Canadian rotors and Chinese rotors. I have not noticed any difference in how they worked or how long they lasted. I did notice that the US and Canadian ones had tighter dimensional accuracy and the blades in the rotor looked nicer. But they all stopped the same, and they all wore out the same when the caliper hung up.

After doing thousands of brakes at the shop and home I use almost all store brands.Ive used Bendix etc and had more problems than the store stuff.Let alone many from say Advance are Bendix etc boxed in their store brand. When you do it for a living you dont want problems.Oh yeah many we did were ambulances and they got beat lots more than anyones daily driver. We did use severe duty pads on them.Rocky

I just put new front brakes on my 07 2500HD the other day. Bought OEM from the dealer. Rotors and pads made in the USA. No price choices on the rotors as the dealers only offer the direct replacements. The pads are offered as direct OEM or Chrysler's cheap "Value Line" pads. Stick with the OEM pads.

Cost is not much more than the better aftermarket stuff out there, of which is slim, maybe the Raybestos products. If you can get the parts discount, dealer OEM is a no brainer when obtaining replacement parts for our Rams, lots of it still being manufactured in USA, Canada, or Mexico.

I agree with buying OEM from the dodge dealer. I usually buy online from a Mopar dealer to save money on mopar parts.

Feel better? that was a LOT of rambling without actually answering the question posed.

I have 3 sets of rotors that have LOTS of meat left, but I can't do squat with them. Why? they have hard spots in them. brake lathe wouldn't clean them up as the cutter would skip right over the hard spots and not cut any material off. Put them on a REAL lathe, same thing. carbide cutter skipped over the hard spots and didn't remove any material.

They had minimal run-out, but sure felt warped. the Pads were skipping over the hard parts just like the carbide bit, making the rotors feel warped.

where were the rotors made? well...it sure wasn't here in Ohio, Canada, Mexico, India, Germany...

Check with EBC. They makes them in England and did have a foundry in Cleveland as of a few years ago. I have no idea why the one guy thinks this third world crap that gets imported is some sort of comparison to first world stuff. Btw Germany makes a whole lot of your smartphone parts.

I want my fair share
