The '74 Dodge Power Wagon I bought last November, has a NP435 Transmission and a NP205 Transfer Case.

While removing the transmission for overhaul, I noticed how crooked the Transfer Case Shift Linkage rod is and wondered if that was "normal" (as in intentionally bent as an adjustment from the factory) or if it was supposed to be Straight and was bent through years of service, etc?

So, Is it supposed to be Straight or bent/crooked?

Pretty sure it IS a factory part. I have seen a drawing of it in the Dodge Factory Service Manual, but the drawing does not show the entire shaft/part. The Factory Parts Manual would likely show it, but I don't have that manual.

I have seen photos of similar looking later-model shafts, but they are Straight and have an adjustable-length end piece that has a Set-screw.

The one on my 74 seems to be straight, well at least straight compared to yours.

Thanks for the replies and Photo. I straightened mine today using a vice and an anvil.
