ok folks, i have an odd question. i recently picked up a 72-73 slant six 4 speed truck. this engine has the low starter location. i was told that the low pocket starter bell, was swappable with a sb. anyone have any information? thanks Bill

No. The bell housing bolt patterns are a different diameter.

There was a heavy duty bell that had a small block bolt pattern Dodge used with the slant 6, but there may have been an adapter between the motor & bell to make it work, I just don't remember.

Dodge did it in the heavy duty trucks (3/4 ton & 1 ton trucks) at least for a few years. How rare or what years they did so, I'm not sure. I think the 1 ton slant 6 truck I had with the strange bell was a 67. I also knew of a 72 or 73 Dodge slant 6 1 ton (dualies and all) a local guy converted to a car hauler. According to him, it had as much power as a 440 truck! I told him his 440 must have needed a tuneup very badly. Gene
