Hello! Would anybody have an original paint sample off a Sublime car? It has to be original paint without fading.
I want to paint a car Sublime, but the color that the Glasurit computer formula is throwing seems to be off. Id like to color match it to an original paint sample instead.

It can be a sheetmetal section or whatever. Please let me know if you have something I can use.

Thanks in advance.

Domingo....there is no 'reference' sample out there that is correct compared to all the others.

The original factory cars even varied a bit.

Sublime is like Panther Pink in that different mfgs DO tend to vary from one another a lot. I originally was going to go with DuPont (12 years ago) and sprayed my trunk. I didn't like it---thought it looked a bit milky.
Switched to PPG.

And of course if you are spraying base clear then ALL of them will be off compared to ANY original paint car.

That's the problem with "computer" generated formulas, the paint mfg's have eliminated the ALTs and combined them into one "matching" formula to simplify their computer matching system, your best bet is either find an original paint sample you like and computer scan it for a possible match, or get access to some color keys from your paint mixer or the manufacturer to find the ALT that has the best match... but keep in mind even the best color match can be fubar'd by choosing the wrong primer base/value shade, painter application/technique, etc, etc...

Back in the day (early eighties) we used to have factory package paint. I remember buying 5 quarts of ditzler lacquer and it had the FE5 Rally Red paint name and codes printed as part of the label. The color was spot on. After they ran out of that it was all mixing and who knows what you would get.

Let me know how I can help.
