Also, a good locksmith can cut a key without a code. There are only so many "teeth combinations" that are possible & it's not nearly as many as you'd think. I don't fully understand this, but a buddy of mine is a locksmith & only took about 10-15 min. to cut me a new set of keys.

Thanks, didn’t know the locks had codes on them.
I would then assume the trunk lock has a code too. true, but the trunk key (ES) is different from the ignition/doors (EP)

For 1969 up there are 3,360 possible combinations for ignition & trunk keys in my book - if I counted right. You know, that's what I always thought, but my buddy told me differently. Maybe I didn't understand exactly what he was telling me, but he didn't seem to have too much trouble. He had a tool that kinda-sorta looked like a pair of sideways hedge shears...kinda-sorta. He put a blank key in it horizontally & squeezed the handle to cut the teeth. He cut, tried key, cut, tried key and threw away the first key after about 3 cuts and repeated with a new key. By the 3rd blank key he had it. I was amazed. This was on a "brand-X" (Oldsmobile...'78 I believe)
