I'm ready to have some paint thrown on my 70 Cuda and was wondering what color to paint wheel wells and body undercarriage? Black or body color? The car is rallye red and not sure how red wheel wells would look. TIA🤔

The wheel wells are coated with undercoating after paint. Therefore they will be black not red. The undercarriage was dark grey dip primer with only overspray body color.

Is your car an extra undercoating car?

The std undercoating has a pattern to it. The whole wheel well was not black.

Also was your car built in Hamtramck or LA?

That's the rotisserie "over restored" look. Just add mirrors.....

One more thing to remember, the undercoating keeps rocks thrown off the tires from denting the top of the fender.

Yep, zero, or simply not enough, undercoating and you'll end up with stars in your paint from flying stones.

Get some undercoat from Resto Rick and find out what the spray patterns are for your car and go for it.

Almost forgot to say that if you want to know what color the bottom of the car was from the factory it can be found behind the door panels, firewall, ect from about the door latch on down.

Very popular to paint the bottom the same color as the rest of the car. Although that look is actually much prettier than grey primer it's not "correct" if your after originality.

Just my opinion, but to me body coloured wheel wells look bad and make the car look unfinished.

I have met a few people who think that this is how the underside of the car looked when it left the factory. Really...

I agree, body color wheel wells don't look good, black undercoat looks good though.

Pretty sure that E bodies were similar to the B Bodies, that got a shot of undercoat in the wheel wells, and certainly used in the front fenders to keep the rocks from making dings in the paint topside . . . . but, that is just my 2 cents . . .
