The battery died on my 2006 magnum RT. The key works in the door but the rod seems disconnected.

If I could get it open, I could charge the battery.

Heck, even if I could open the HOOD, I can hook up to the battery lugs.

So. How do I either get a door open, or how do I get the hood open?!

The battery should be located in the back cargo area in the spare tire well.

Isn't there a key hole in the hatch?

After looking at rear hatch pics, apparently there isn't a key hole. (dumb idea on Chryslers part)

Ok. Got it open guys.

Super friggin easy. Not gonna say how (internet and all) but it took about 1’ of baling wire, and about 1 minute.

If someone is super interested, I can share via PM.

Currently charging the battery so I can start and move it....

I've got a pretty good idea how you did it.

I've seen it done before with string or bailing wire, but hard to explain easily whereas showing/doing it is relatively easy. laugh2

Yeah, once you actually look, it’s super easy. I wasn’t near the car, or I would have looked first and not had to post about it haha.

String would be better if you can loop it around easily. I just used baling wire with the right bends in it.

Kinda makes me lose faith in the security of these cars haha but it is what it is....

Most of the newer Chrysler products require a chipped/skim key to let them start and run which usually prevents the theft of the actual car.

Someone who's just breaking in to steal what's visible usually doesn't care if they damage the car, and there are plenty of fast ways to break in that way. flame

They'll do hundreds of dollars of damage to steal $5 worth of change out of the ash tray. That happened to my ex-brother in law.
