I got my torsion bars installed today. I had a hard time getting the hex opening of the LCA to line up with the bars, but I was finally able to get them into a position so the bar could slip in. I did it by raising the LCA with a jack until the hex opening and the bar were lined up.

It says in the FSM to then turn the torsion bar adjusting bolt so that a load is placed on the bar. But right now the adjusting blade is pretty high. I'm thinking something is wrong here. Should I redo everything so that the blade is in a lower position initially?

Yes, loosen the bolt as much as possible and rotate down to the next hex

Did you remove the UCA bump stop? This lets everything drop enough to line up with T/bar.

You want the LCA as low as you can get it not high.

Make sure you have them installed on the properly marked side. Right and left.

Did you have the lower control arms removed? If so the mounting bolts for them should not be tightened until the car is at ride height.

I think you must surely have the bar in there off on the hex part by one hex. There is no way that can be right.

This

You need to pull the LCA down to line up with the T bar hex, not up. You found out why it's not up, see your pic.

They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

You have your adjusting bolt turned all the way IN. You need it all the way OUT. The bolt should be hanging out the bottom of the LCA and the adjusting blade should be touching the bolt when you install the torsion bars.

I'm not at the house right now to take a look at things but I'm sure that I'll have to remove the UCA bump stops to get things lower.

So then I'm going to remove the bar from the LCA, lower the blade as much as possible towards the adjusting bolt, and then reinsert the bar. Once the bar is out of the LCA will the blade easily move down? Or is there something else that needs to be done so the blade is free to move easily?

unscrew the adjuster bolt so the ball is flush with the insert, once the torsion bar is pulled out you should be able to move the blade down by hand.
push the arm down as far as it will go, push the blade down as far as it will go, slide the tb into the hex, you might have to move the blade slightly to get it to line up with the tb.

I take the shock and bump stop off, that will let the lca drop enough to slide bar in easily. Like one said make sure you got them on the right side as marked.
