Were the TA ´s assembled in a sequential order? If so what would be the the earliest vin to the latest? I may have found a blue TA and would need the info to see if it's a fake or the real thing. Thanks for any help.

They were not assembled in VIN order.

They were mixed in with several other models on the line over months.

Feel free to email if you want to?

It it possible I have heard of it before & may know some history.

My email address can be found at http://www.challengertaregistry.com/ if you hit the 'contact' button in the menu at left.

1,521 T/As recorded so far, so that number can only go up.

is that 1521 out of 2400?

How many of those 1521 are dead?

No one knows how many were made for sure.

Some are long gone for good, but there is no way to know how many for certain.

Broadcast sheets & other paperwork not claimed yet......

Engines & transmissions not reunited yet......

I can hope & try to do what I can. luck

Do you count TA blocks as one of that number or only bodies? I’ve got a TA block you said was from a challenger that has never surfaced.

I'm 99% certain that he counts cars, engines and broadcast sheets - anything that was definitely from a TA. I'm skeptical on fender tags.

I keep records for every T/A & item from or for a T/A with a VIN or partial VIN to identify it that I hear about.

I do the same for all the other 1970 Hamtramck built cars & the 1970 LA built cars too.

I thought so. My bud found my TA long block in a junk yard in the eighties. It was in a 75 Fury with a two barrel intake. Fortunately, he sold it to me for $500 instead of racing it in his dirt car. It had never been apart. You’ve never come across the car since so I guess it is long gone.

It can take years.

Not all owners are on the internet & cars are still popping up once in a while.

The very first T/A broadcast I found was in my own T/A & was for a different T/A. It sat in a filing cabinet for over 12 years before it was claimed.

That was 19 years ago, the very first item I ever had claimed. Over 400 hundred more since then, but I have not counted the items others had like engines & transmissions that have made it back to their cars.

There have been quite a few though. beer

The more people that register & / or report what they have found, the more often reunions can happen.

I have a friend that still has (I think) a complete TA engine.

It is already .060 over so he as thought that would hurt the value.

A while back when he was considering selling it and he was having a hard time figuring the value. The other ones that were for sale had unreasonably high prices and did not seem to be selling.

Does anyone know of any sales that actually completed?

.060" over doesn't help, but if it's the ORIGINAL motor for a guy that's doing a numbers-matching restoration, it's worth a small fortune....sleeves aren't all that expensive for a guy with a T/A or AAR

It would be worth more to the owner of the matching car than to anyone else. Send me an email if you can get the partial VIN & I'll check to see if I have an owner for the car as a registry member.

Thanks!

I will give the guy a call.
