1970 Challenger,,,
Automatic, floor console
TTI 2" headers installed,,,, ( 440/727 )
( was a 318/904 drivetrain w/stock exhaust )

Problem: bracket coming down thru floor from gear shifter is right next to the header collector,,,,AND the lower trans rod going to the gear selector is hitting big time along the side of the header,,,,
Linkage cannot be hooked up due to the clearance issues,, (minor grinding here and there will not fix the problem )

What are people doing with similar set ups ? ( 70 E body, 727, headers with stock console ) ??

I was trying to retain the stock console,,,and avoid running a aftermarket shifter,,,but not so sure it's possible ?

Is there different linkage that might work ?
Any pic's of what people are running in this situation ?

thanks for any help.....
Doug

Update, found some information On the TTI website about modification of the torque shaft mounting placement. Going to move some things around and see if I can get the clearance I need.

Doug I do not remember what I did with mine but there was some direction from TTI that I did and it fit great. I also had the TTI's and their 3" exhaust system on mine and used the factory console and shifter with no issues. The car is gone now so can't look at it to see what I did to make it fit.

Thanks Russ !!
I found some info on TTIs site to move part of the linkage around to accommodate the shifter rods,,, I need to change my tailshaft to mount the torque shaft bracket and the new tailshaft has thinner webbing on it so I think I'll gain some clearance.
Thanks for the response !!
Doug
