I am looking at buying an engine harness from Year One - I have a 30% off coupon. I have a 383 and am wanting to run a late model alternator and will use the bracket kit from Andy at AR. The harnesses are made for a late model alternator or the standard alternator. Has anyone used one to know how the late model one wires up? I want to make sure I get the correct harness and am unsure of which one to get to run the later alternator. I was under the impression that the later alternators were "one-wire" but the one used with the kit Andy sells uses an adapter that has 3 wires. I've read the instructions but, again I'm unsure which harness to get. Not trying to be dumb I just want to make sure I get what I need the first time. Thanks in advance!

Your best off contacting M&H wiring directly to get what harness info/identification PN# you need, you'll still need to purchase it thru Year One though due to licensing with M&H

The one with the upgrade to factory electronic ignition has the wires for a dual field alt. i suspect that is the three wire alt you are asking about?

Its an excellent harness. Ive had several.

Depending on the coil you have, you may be able to just jump it and skip having a ballast, which i have done. Guys get all hopping mad about this topic so...
