I had a previous post a few months ago and last week. In regards to my Duster 340 turning over but not firing. I had a very week sparatic yellow spark, not the hot white/blue steady spark. I have replaced the coil and ECM box still nothing. From replys some of you had given me it led me to start looking elswhere. The first place I looked (my steering column plug connection)I think I have found my problem. For some reason two of the pins have shorted out in the middle of the plug and melted the plug. The only reason we can think is old age and the plug has become brittle (it's a 73 340).
Does anyone know who makes a good replacement plug unit that I can cut out the complete plug unit and rewire in a new unit. I hate have to replace the entire harness with a new one since they are expensive.Or buy a complete used harness just to ge the plug setup that I need.
thanks,

An option would be to run the 2 offending wires straight thru like Nacho's bulkhead parallel bypass & solder em. Wouldn't be OE but it hold ya till you found an OE harness. I would investigate why they burned/melted, Poor connection (friction from the electrons makes heat) or a dead short (find it) or some circuit/device that drew too much current (find it)

This is a common problem as I stated in your first post. I know that mine is not original, but I cut each individual wire on both sides then put new male and female detachable ends on. If you go to a good electrical supplier and get good quality ends and heat shrink tubing. That way, you can still remove the steering column if needed. Each wire will be separate rather than in a plastic connector, but It has run flawlessly with no chance of a meltdown. Hope this helps. Paul.
