Is it possible to switch the dash harness in a standard dash ac body car with another of the same year while the dash is still in the car? My wiring is iffy in a few places and i have another harness however replacing it and having to remove the dash would mean removing the windshield as well and i really don want to do that.If it can be done how hard is it to accomplish? The car has no other interior in it at the moment as i am converting to a 5 speed in the upcoming weeks! Thanks in advance Moparts members

yes

Allen Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first. Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

You don't need to remove the windshield to get at the wiring harness. speedometer and radio removed give all the room needed....heater controls/radio if cramped.Depends on the year. I know for 66 and 67 B-body, the windshield comes out to replace the dashpad. On 68 up, the windshield can stay in but it's not alot of fun

Funny you should make this post - I have a 70 RR and just completely removed the harness on Saturday, to clean it up and renew some connections.

I have it hanging from the ceiling in my kitchen - should have taken some pictures.

It really wasn't that difficult, and I only removed the gauge cluster and the 2 kick panels, (and the neg battery cable of course) then labeled some of the connections with masking tape.

Removing the connection block from the firewall was much easier than I thought. From under the hood I disconnected the 3 plugs, then to remove the block on the end of the dash harness from the firewall you just have to use a screwdriver to push down the 2 metal clips on top of the block - the block can then be pulled into the inside of the car.

My car doesn't have AC, but other than that my harness is probably just like yours.

Easy to remove, just takes some time and patience.

Hope this helps.
