A couple of months ago we bought a 2008 300 with about 20K miles on it. I tend to be uptight about oil changes, etc. so I changed the oil shortly after we got the car.

It has been about 2k since the oil change and the display put up a message saying take to dealer for an oil change. I know the oil I put in is fine, but the cpu didn't 'know' that I changed the oil.

So I searched online and figured out how to turn the key on and mash the gas 3x to reset the oil indicator [I couldn't look in the owner's manual because I don't have one - long story].

Does anyone know if this same reset procedure will work even if the car is not giving me a message? It would be good if the next time I changed the oil I could reset the indicator to match when I change the oil.

Make sense???

Thanks for any help.

afaik, that is the reset procedure.
turn the key to run position and push the throttle pedal to the floor 3 consecutive times. Not to quickly , I think you have about 5 seconds to do all 3 then turn the key off

I know that is the reset procedure once the dash indicator is flashing.

Will that procedure reset the indicator if I change oil and the indicator is not on??

Don't know, I've never tried it when the light was not on.
