I am swapping from a cast iron intake to an Edelbrock performer intake on my 76 Dodge Travco. I did this once before on another one but can't remember. Do I just use a new valley pan only or use the additional intake gaskets that appear to go on inside and outside of the valley pan at the intake ports ? I have both here just don't remember. I would like to block the heat riser from the intake side of heads as I have had issues of the gas boiling which is why I am doing the swap. It solved this problem on my last Travco. Thanks.

These are the supplemental fiber gaskets. It did not have them with the cast intake.

Well, I goofed with these gaskets anyway. I should have gotten Felpro #1214 which blocks the crossover ao I am sut down for a few days now while I order it. 😔

The fiber gaskets are normally not used unless the intake has been milled to accept them. I spray the valley pan with a red spray gasket sealer and a little rtv in the corners where the head gaskets are.

There are other ways to plug the heat crossover. I normally take some 1/4 aluminum, contour it and knock it into the intake.

Shouldn't need the paper gaskets if the heads are stock.

Ok thx. Yes stock heads. I also ordered ARP 144-2101 bolts for the intake as 3 of the old bolts the heads rounded out.

I actually read somewhere else too about packing it with fuenace cement. I need new i take bolts as well so the new gasket will arrive at the same time. Thank you for the help. I will use the red spray sealer and no paper..

You won't need any packing. Those block off pans have been used for years without burning through. No need to make it more work than necessary.

The valley pan #1215 is the one that is blocked off. I use the paper gaskets on both sides but then again, I have aluminum heads, aluminum intake and I have thicker head gaskets that make the intake ports from side to side slightly further apart. I use a Mr Gasket intake paper gasket because it is much thicker than the Fel Pro versions.

do yourself a favor and use those gasket - 1 on each side of the pan.

I swapped a couple intakes alum & cast iron stockers and chased intake leaks till I used the #1215 pan & came with them.

I put them on dry and dab of rtv in the corners/across the end rails.

how are the exhaust gaskets? I suggest using the Heavy Duty set from fel-pro that has a heat shield to help keep the valve cover gasket from burning.

2 upgrades in gasket well worth the $ to do on that beast.

I would make a EGR block off plate or find a stock one since you are blocking the cross over.

ugly and in the way and surely looks like non functional.

I would use the paper gaskets with permatex "high tack" the thin red spray gasket cement (tho the last couple of cans of it had specs of dried red material/something in the spray) if your bolt holes will still line up. People have used the valley pans as is as did Ma with no issues but vac leaks are the cats' a$$ to deal with. I would check that the mating surfaces on the performer are straight. As said there are several ways to block the crossover & I would without a doubt avoid E10 gas if you have a choice in your location. I think superformance has thin (.015") side gaskets available but you are already duplicating parts but the more info available the better. EDIT & iirc 440source (on the thin .015" gaskets)
