These models had aluminum bumper brackets, aluminum understructures of the hood and trunklid but that is it. These were all slant six cars but the block was iron as usual. The manual trans cars had an aluminum case 833 OD and a 2.94 axle gear. The automatics were the 904 and the axle gearing was 2.76.

I had a "3" fender tag Feather Duster. It was optioned with ac, factory vinyl roof and "hang 10" interior (yup, had the build sheet that showed it all) . . . I have managed to scrounge a hood, hood hinges (they have lighter springs), and trunk lid as spares . . . sold car long ago . . . was fun, as the /6 was long gone, and replaced with great running 360, 8.75 rear end and too much fun to bang through the gears. . . .

I parted out a Feather years ago. Auto trans, no fold down seat. IIRC, the Feather package was A37, but that's pretty foggy.

Manual 4 speed trans was OD and I believe the /6 intake was aluminum and carb was different, at least in calibration.

It was actually the bumper reinforcements that were aluminum and weighed a LOT less than their steel counterparts. The "brackets" that bolted the bumper assembly to the frame were the steel "shock absorber" style brackets.

Bring a magnet. But I did buy a hood/trunk combo once that the owner claimed was a Feather/Lite and paint matched. Hood was good but the trunk was all steel. Chrysler may have run short during assembly.

Like with a bolt-on fiberglass hood, "regular" hood springs are too stiff and the hood wants to bend. OEM Feather/Lite hood springs have less tension for the 10-15 lb weight difference. Springs off of a FWD Daytona, Shadow or similar cars fit, but they seem to be a touch too light requiring a prop - at least on my hood with a scoop.

The special hood and trunk lid are easy to identify because the aluminum skin is CRIMPED to the steel structure.
