Anyone know of any tricks to free it before I take apart the column? No lockout button I could see on the column. Tried tapping it with a screw driver, wiggling it in all different directions, turning the wheel etc.. but couldn't get it to budge. Ignition cylinder will turn to start from where it's at but can't get it back to off to pull the key out.

Have you tried turning the shifter collar on the column or the collar other than the one the key is in?

If it is a 1970 model, adjust your lockout linkage.

If it is a 1970 3 speed or 4-speed manual transmission car, the key only comes out with the gear selector in reverse when the lockout linkage is adjusted right.
