Is the condenser that is used in the Prestolite dual point distributor the same part as the one that is used in the single point distributor? I have heard that they were different, but when I checked the ones on Rock Auto I found that they do not list a different part number for the single and the dual point distributors.

I don't have a definitive yes or no answer but I wouldn't be afraid to use the listed condensor. iirc from way back there was something about keeping an eye on which side of the contacts (if) there is any craters or peaks (the metal transfer) to tell you if you need more or less condensor capacity. there might be (I'm sure there is) some info in the Jacobs ign bible that I have, about 80% of it is devoted to points which surprised me. It was a worthwhile addition to my library tho.

same condenser.
original ones were the strap type, often replaced with the wire type.

Thought I remember something about a condensor with a longer wire with two horseshoe connectors, one for each point set????

Forgive me, I'm old and this was a loooong time ago, LOL

yes Nash twin 6&twin 8 ignition used dual condensers with a u connector on each end. also Packard twin 6,12 had dual condensers, lincoln v12 also used dual condensers, have ignition catalogs starting in the teens to the 70s and dont see a mopar with twin condensers.
