I put Holley 340 center and outboards on my 383. Mopar Performance reccomended 440 center and 383 outboards for B Blocks, and the only difference I could see between the 440 and 340 centers was the main jets. I pulled the 61 jets out and installed 63's as reccomended by the six pack tuning tips. Stock '70 383 Magnum, Stock manifolds and 2-1/2" exhaust. Motor runs nicely now. Holleys are about $100 less each than the Mopar Performance carbs, and the 340 center less than the 440. Jets are $6 a pair. http://www.mopar1.us/6barreltips.html

I thought the center carbs were the same CFMs, at least the factory carbs, am I wrong?

I'm sure that the stock 1970 340 carbs, automatic and stick shift, CA and non CA carbs. flowed 300 CFM from Holley on Mopar production 340 C.I.motors, not 350 CFM like the original 1969,1970 and 1971 model productions OEM 440 carbs did I know several NHRA stocker racers that had a bunch of different original OEM 340 and 440 carbs, none of them ever said that all the center carbs. they had flowed (a bunch of them) for both motors flowed the same for the BB and SB motors In fact, I've seen stocker racers switch the center carbs. after qualifying at NHRA major races, before being tech. or sealed up for tech. Lots of misinformation out there

Cant tell you about actual flow numbers but pretty sure they were advertised as the same. I am reasonably sure the 440 pulled more from the secondaries than the 340 pulls.
