Any one here have one? Any info? I may stoke my 360 and why not go with 426 instead of 408?

How long is the stroke ??What is safe rpm limit?..any special block prep ? What is bore size ? Oh yeah ..what $$$$

Want to say there was something a little funky with the kit but I can't remember.....

If I remember correctly, Hughes offset grinds a 4" crank to get the 4.180 stroke. When he does that he ends up with a Honda sized rod journal .
I dyno tested one a friend had bought a few years ago, things may be different now.

"The forged crankshaft will have a standard 360 main bearing with NASCAR sized rod journals (1.889"). The stroke is 4.180". The lightweight rods will use lighter weight 0.912" pin diameter and will naturally be full floating. Minimal notching will be required to allow this kit to drop in. We strongly suggest that you use our main bearing support girdle with this long armed screamer. These kits will be internally, race balanced.

Your heads and cam will determine how many rpms it will turn. I've never heard anything bad about their stroker kits, about like everyone elses. What heads do you have for it?

Well, I have some j heads and x heads both with 2.02 valves and ported. A set of magnum heads that are ported too. T hinking of using this cam with a 6 pack maybe.

It'll be a stump puller, probably done by 53-5500 rpms.

I'm a little ways away from the same basic build your doing, but I think I would call a few of the better cam guys here and see what they recommend for all those cubes but restrictive heads and 6 pack intake. Shady dell is who I would contact first. Lmk how she runs!

If you type in Hughes based 426 s.b. dyno test, you can see the results from the one I tested. It had stock Edelbrock heads and a Hughes 3237 AL cam.

Hmm...seems like that cam is waaaay too long on advertised duration, waaay too short on valve lift, and so-so on dur @ 0.050"...or to put it another way: I've seen cams with the same dur @ 0.050, a lot more lift and shorter advertised duration.

Not apples to apples but I have a 427" (4.04 x 4.17) stroker SB ford Windsor in a Cobra replica.

The heads flow about 250 @.400 lift and just over 280 at .500 and with a ported victor jr, 800 Edelbrock AVS and a Comp XE 240/246@.050 .542/.542 lift (1.6 rockers) and 1 7/8" headers the 10.25:1 motor made 511 at 5300 and It'll rev to 6000 easy (real easy in a 2450 pound car, lol) and has torque in 5th gear (3.50 gears with a .68 O/D) to take wot and pull hard from only 1600-1800 rpm (highway speed)

My point is if you have really good head flow, a big stroke small block will easily duplicate the power and torque of a big block, and you don't really need a lot of cam to do it. IMO too many people overcam the big stroke small blocks and standard port big blocks and wind up side stepping the sweetest part of the torque curves for those combos in the process,in my case I only wanted to duplicate the power/torque of a 'real' 427 FE and I think I nailed it in terms of driving fun big block 'feel' (face distorting torque at all engine speeds) all in a package that's 150 pounds lighter than the big block.

So good heads can do a Lot with even a comparatively small cam, with a big stroke your piston speed really doesn't favor turning it much more than 6000 or so anyway, for peak (drag race) power your better with a smaller 3.79-4.00 stroke and just up the cam and gearing. But the long arm does have a place and if done right, it's a really fun motor combination.

I'm working up a 440" 360 with a 4.25 stroke and ported W2's with a tunnel ram, ought to be really fun but I won't (want or NEED) to spin it up to tight to do it

I sure would like to know if this cam is optimal for this somewhat restrictive head AND the 6 pack the OP may use. My 244 @.050 cam in my 360 with home ported j's seems small to me. Most times someone on here ask for a good street strip cam for a 340/360 this is around the size most say work good.... So this is going to cut the mustard on a 426"???

The reason I asked about the cam.. It was in a 70 Barracuda with a stock bore 318 with 340 X heads. The ports were untouched with about .060 or so cut from the chamber side. They were 63-65 cc if I remember correctly. I ran the 6 pack and big hooker super comp headers. It was a dog on the low end, but when it hit the 3200-3500 range to 6500 it really surprised lots of mustangs and camaros back in the day. I ran a hemi four speed with the low first gear and a 3.23 rear. It hooked good..I still have the car and the motor. I thought about using the cam and 6 pack on my 69 dart.
