eraser wheel (rubber wheel on a die grinder). Takes off the glue too. Be careful though. On some paints it can take the paint off with it if you get it going too fast. I would just use a heat gun and the get the glue off with reducer or laquer thinner and a plastic razorblade if needed to help move the glue off easier.
Use the Eraser wheel to remove the stripe and 3M adhesive remover to get off any left over adhesive. I have used lot's of those eraser wheels and they work good.

He is talking about brand new paint. I wouldn't use any rotating sanding wheel or scraper of any kind on fresh paint.
Have you ever used this tool?
A heat gun is way more dangerous on fresh paint than this tool. And you use it on a drill at slow speeds, NOT A DIE GRINDER!! Max RPM is 4000, a die grinder spins way faster than that.
And 3M adhesive remover is the best choice to remove adhesive, better, safer than mineral spirits.
OP why ask? if your going to use something no one suggested?
Also most time the winkles can removed while applying the decal, even if they were there before putting them on.
I have been applying and removing decals on big truck and race cars since 1983. For 4 years I applied a new decal for a sponsor at every race. He would have me apply one for his best customer at each track we went to. I removed and applied like 40-50 of them for him. He sent me the file in a e mail and I forwarded it to my sign guy and he would make them for me. I only ran each decal for one weekend and then off it came and a new one went back on it's place. The sponsor was a paint manufacturer, so the paint on the dragster was flawless, they applied it, the paint and I had to keep it that way.
I just removed all these decals and reapplied them after I painted the truck. I do it for living.

Hairdryer is all I ever use. I've used goo-gone to remove a little residue but I wasn't on fresh paint.

Thanks Challenger1, these are large decals, appox 1ft x 2.5 ft each. Do you still recommend the pinstripe tool? How did you remove the decals from the trucks and race cars?

Yes I use them on large decals, I do fuel tankers. I don't don't like using heat on those, especially LP gas tankers. Yes I used them on my race cars also.
