The one I painted fit ok(cuda). I did hammer/dolly the hood flange, and that helped. Your hood body line looks low, maybe a skim coat of filler will help. Make sure there are no burs on the bottom side of the trim ring, or try another one.

Replace the trim ring with one from BE&A, theirs will likely fit better.

Chances are the hood is the culprit, I purchased the first initial releases of E body Shaker Hoods to avoid tooling wear/fatigue as is often seen after consecutive runs on stamped steel products where tool repair isn't performed routinely or at all, I don't have any issue with my ring/hood fit like you've posted...I'd build up/rework the hood peak/gap area

thanks for input ,,im thinking its the trim ring..i looked at my original shaker hood and the middle ridge isnt as raised as the front just like amd hood....lucky me guess i got a bad trim ring if no one else has had this problem..even though i was told thats how they are by person i got it from..i have an original trim ring so i tried it...it wont fit the amd hood ,,the amd trim ring is alittle wider than the original...the original trim ring isnt as raised up as amd one and its stamping is more defined.maybe its different since its for a challenger.....thanks again

Replace the trim ring with one from BE&A, theirs will likely fit better.

They do fit exceptionally well in the AMD hood, the aluminum ring supplied with the hood definitely has fitment issues. Our ring is virtually indistinguishable as being a reproduction compared to an original. The reproduction ring fits an original hood perfectly and the AMD hood the same. I've supplied many of our rings to customers because of the same issues you're having.

B/E&A's fit my 1970 factory hood perfectly too. Thanks Mike!
