I am having the most trouble trying to find the correct booster it's driving me mad! I have a 68 Plymouth satellite that started life as a 318 all drum car.

sometime in the 80s it was converted to disc brakes up front utilizing 80 m body front calipers which i've laready replaced with 74 dart calipers. however the 80s m body power booster looks nothing like the booster that i need to replace. i've ordered several 68 satellite power drum boosters and power disc boosters which would all bolt to my master cylinder but the bolts on the back of the booster do not match up to the mount off the firewall... it's driving me mad.

the measurements from my old booster measure vertically from the outside of the bolts(that is how cardone measurements are) 3.8125" and horizontally from the outside of the bolt 4.0625" does anyone have a clue what i should order? also between my old master cylinder and booster there was a spacer of sorts that had some sponge like material attached to it which i cannot find either... help

i talked with cardone tech and it seems that the re-manufactured boosters are coming in with the wrong bolt dimensions but how could this happen this often?!?

any help would be great

FWIW this would be a Midland Ross booster which is what should have come on a power drum brake car...

Yeah it looks just like that midland ross booster complete with the spacer unfortunately that's a bit outta my price range

i also forgot to mention that when i look up the booster on the part store websites and even when i go into the store the images they have look just like my old booster.

but the booster that comes in looks different.

Check with BoosterDewey..

I checked my old booster and there are no numbers I'll try to get pictures this weekend...

I'm gonna try a couple more part numbers then i guess i'll have to use booster dewey and hope he'll have that spacer that goes between the booster and the master cylinder.

unfortunately i'm on a tight budget and i was impatient to finish my brakes. I was just going to re-use it but then i noticed cracks in the rubber and i was missing the spacer that i remember taking off(my pops prob tossed it) I was finishing up my brake system that weekend.

so i order one from bumper to bumper auto to pickup and they accidentally order the disc brake version. thinking that may have been the issue i turned around and ordered the drum version from advanced auto that part too was wrong. frustrated i called up cardone and they said it may have been boxed wrong. so i ordered it again from bumper to bumper hoping to squash the brakes this weekend nope same deal looked different but most of all the back bolts did not line up it kinda just turned into a fiasco on me.

i should have just had booster dewey rebuild it from the get go and wait a week i have another power booster i'm going to try then hopefully booster dewey will have some of those spacers lying around lol what a mess

Good news folks! My last shot in the dark ended up being a bullseye, I ordered a 74 Dart booster just by chance and it's the correct one complete with the space I will install tomorrow! Thanks for all the help!

One last thing in the spacer I seem to remember there being some sponge material between the plastic piece and aluminum piece. Does anyone know if that material is required, because my new one didn't come with any... Maybe I need to cut my own? If so does anyone know what material it is?

Thanks again!

I just replaced my MC a couple of weeks ago and the foam piece in mine was virtually non existent. I just cut and shaped a piece of foam and put it in there, not sure of it's purpose other than to keep dirt out. All is good.
