Ever since I have had my 71 charger the Key Cylinder would come out if you pulled on it. I took a deeper look at this problem today and think maybe the cylinder i have might be for a different model. The little spring loaded lock retainer seems to be in a different place on the cylinder then it should be. Am thinking i may need to buy a correct one but want to verify first.

1970 - 1971's have a circular spring loaded clip.( see pic )

1972 and later have a pin that holds them in.

I don't know for sure but have my doubts they will interchange

that is exactly what the problem is. The guy that had the car before me put a 72 in instead of a 71. Looks like I will have to locate one for a 71. Any chance of anybody carrying one cheaper then year one?

Got a full set of locks from Tom for my 71 R/T and the ignition lock fits perfectly.
