Tire stores around Columbus, OH don't have/can't get them in a 235/60 15 (the standard factory replacement size). I called BFG & was told that they were depleting the inventory & will be producing another batch in June. I griped, but was told that the Radial T/A is just not a common tire. Really? Did the musclecar world change & I missed it?

What tires are you guys using?

I like the firestone indy 500s

Ran into that problem last fall with the BFG 235/60, I got lucky and found a set for sale on CL localy that were brand new.
I said the same thing to my tire guy, how can you not be making 235/60/15? Those have to be the most common musclecar size.

I like these better than the T/A's. They don't offer them in that many sizes though.

You could also get the Firestones, or the Cooper Cobras. If you compare the ratings between the BFG's and the Firestones on the Tire Rack website you'll find the Firestones get much better reviews.

Actually, I was looking at a pair of those today. Not a bad-looking tire.

That problem with the T/A's has been happening for a few years now. They'll produce a run, then not schedule another production until they are all sold out. Not very many muscle cars on the road (compared to the total number of cars), and the muscle cars on the road are typically not daily drivers so they don't go through tires as fast (burnouts aside!).

Seems like more and more old car owners are switching over to the bigger 17" + diameter wheels too. 15" wheels are still the #1 size on old cars in this area, but the larger diameter stuff is slowly taking over.

Go to a tire store looking for a white letter 15" tire and you have to order them and wait a few days.....

Last winter I got 2 (BFG T/As) 275/60R15s and 2 215/70R15s with no problems. My tire place had them in stock.

those m/ts are made by cooper for them. They are the same as cooper cobras

I got a set from Tire Rack (225/60-15 and 255/60-15) a few months ago and no problem with availability. I just checked again and they are still in stock in those sizes but the 235/60-15 are NOT in stock and I entered my zip and it comes up PENDING in all (six or seven warehouses?) locations. Can you use or want to try another size? I know that doesn't really help you but........and I wonder why the 235/60-15's are out of stock?????

After I mounted them on my new wheels...still have the blue protectant on the letters

The tread patterns look similiar at first glance, but they are different.

Notice anything @nal about the tire photo above..........

Lettering on the tires is aligned with the spokes in the wheels, and the lettering on the tires is oriented the same way with them setting on the ground.

When you park the car do you jack the car up and re-align the lettering so they are the same for the next time you drive it?

Oh and what's really bad about doing that is; you see those yellow paint marks on the tires well that's marked by the tire manufacture to indicate the lightest point on the tire so that the (yellow mark) gets positioned at the tire valve which is the heaviest position on the wheel to minimize the amount of weight that might need to be added to balance the wheel and tire.....now if you think that's not a cost savings for an automobile manufacture think of 1969 Road Runners that they made over 80,000 of them times (X) 4-wheels per car and if it saved just one weight per car..............I'd like to have the coin saved for 80,000 lead weights

I just went ahead and put 245/60-15's on the front and 276/60-15's on the rear of the fury.

Okay, I just tt Summit Racing & they've got an order date of June 4 for their next batch of BFG T/A's. He warned me though, that any delays could push delivery back as far as July.

ongoing problem for us "hobbyists" BFGoodrich snubs their noses at us, despite the fact that we are all so loyal to them with the Radial T/A being one of the best looking tires out there...even if they are not the best performing. some of us like looks over performance for a weekend toy.

compare the number of radial T/As they would sell to "us" in ALL sizes, per year, to how many of just one type and one specific size to an OEM for use on the production line? or at the major tire stores for new trucks/cars?

sucks to be us, but it's just business...why devote all that production time towards making the radial T/A in all the sizes we could want, when that cuts into production of their highest selling tire that they can't keep in stock due to demand?

I thought coker or some other "retro tire company" bought the molds so they could produce them and offer them in their catalog next to 1947 Packard white wall tires? (at double the cost they are through normal tire stores)
