the Indy 500's ride much better and better traction, than T/A's

They also look just as good, if not better

When did Goodyear Indy 500's first hit the market?

I disagree; I think the BFG's look better than anything else with the possible exception of the Goodyear GTII's that Dayclona is talking about (but I'm not sure they are available in the same sizes)

I used to use the Goodyear Eagle ST's but they were discontinued! They were the BEST looking radial tire. Best looking tire period is the Goodyear Polyglass but not everyone wants to run bias plys.

I thought coker or some other "retro tire company" bought the molds so they could produce them and offer them in their catalog next to 1947 Packard white wall tires? (at double the cost they are through normal tire stores)

I had heard that too......

I'm running 245/60R15's TA's on the GTX, I picked them as the diameter was real close to the OEM 14 inch tires, for speedometer calibration.

Just a FYI to all I have a friend that owns a Large tire store and there has been 5 price increase's so far this year and there is only like 3 max in any given year and guess when the next one is coming .... June 1st and I was told there are more coming this year and most are trying to get rid of 14" and 15"

I was told by a guy at a local tire place 2 weeks ago that the 225/70/15 , 255/60/15 and 275/60/15 are still readily available, but the others are on back order.

Oh and what's really bad about doing that is; you see those yellow paint marks on the tires well that's marked by the tire manufacture to indicate the lightest point on the tire so that the (yellow mark) gets positioned at the tire valve which is the heaviest position on the wheel to minimize the amount of weight that might need to be added to balance the wheel and tire.....now if you think that's not a cost savings for an automobile manufacture think of 1969 Road Runners that they made over 80,000 of them times (X) 4-wheels per car and if it saved just one weight per car..............I'd like to have the coin saved for 80,000 lead weights
MikeR

THANKS for the nugget of info. I was unaware of the significance of the yellow marking!
