I picked up a MP cam, part number P4452761, from a friend of mine. I was toying with the idea of sliding it into the 360 in my 78 Fury since the XE256 that was in there decided to have a few collapsed lifters one day. The 360 is a stock 78 E58 with the addition of Magnum heads, a dual plane M1, and a 600 Carterbrock. Im running Hooker Comp headers into 2.5" duals with an h-pipe, 3.55 SG and an A518. Would this cam be ok in a heavy car with a 2000 stall? Im not looking for a lopey idle or to be a complete dog down low and get 12mpg. I understand the 78 had soup dish pistons and were a mile down in the hole, but the XE256 ran strong until I pulled it. I posted the specs below. Im thinking there might be too much duration at .050" Should I go for something smaller? Anyone?

Basic Operating RPM Range 1,500-5,800
Intake Duration at 050 inch Lift 228
Exhaust Duration at 050 inch Lift 231
Duration at 050 inch Lift 228 int./231 exh.
Advertised Intake Duration 268
Advertised Exhaust Duration 272

Intake Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio 0.450 in.
Exhaust Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio 0.455 in.
Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio 0.450 int./0.455 exh.
Lobe Separation (degrees) 110

Not a cam guy so this is more of a BTT for you but I would consider a cam that will build some psi w as you know those soup dish pistons but you do have the cam in hand & using what's avail is always (within reason) a good plan

I think 230+ duration @ .050 would not make you happy with your combo. I'd look for something around 210 or max 220 @ .050.

I used that same cam in a stock 78 360 build a few years back.Mine was in a mini motorhome and I pulled about 10,000 pounds of trailer with it.
It did great, idled with a real slight lope and pulled pretty strong.I had headers with dual 2 1/2" exhaust an MP dual plane intake and a 770 Holley Street Avenger on it.
I always thought it would have made a real nice, mild daily driver engine.

We used that same cam in my son's Swinger with a low compression 360, you should really like it. It's just a touch warmer than the 340 mag cam. Dave

That's good info, but I'm running Magnum heads which have 1.6 rockers. Not sure how that would affect anything. Like I said, I don't want to lose any low and torque.
