yeah what's the difference? though all steel carnk 440's shared the same balancer??? 70-71 because the stopped using those heavy rods?

on 71 non-six pack they had a lot of drilling done on them though since the pistons were lighter.

It was actually the combo of the heavy rods and the heavy pistons that needed the balancer in question...The forged crank and heavy rods were used through 73{some say to 75} but the piston compression dropped{after 71} and so did the weight...So the need for that peticular balancer was gone...

The answers that you seek are all right there in the link I provided.

basically, "6 pack" rods were used on steel crank 440's up until '75, but the "6 pack" damper was only used in '70 - '71.

...of course neither item is unique to a 440-6 engine....
