The triangle bracket is in the wrong place. It is supposed to attach to the two water pump bolts and the unused hole in your pic attached at the front of the alternator. Here is a pic the (not correct it is a mock up of a bracket for a GM alternator) but gives an idea of how the bracket should be attached to the water pump. On your car it will line up with one of the holes at the top of the head, not the lower hole shown here.

I actually have a 3 holes on the right and one on the left, with my bracket, and no where does it hook up with the front of it to the water pump, holes don't match up, I ordered the 3 hole bracket,Hopeing it fits, wish I could still see the top bracket hooked up better and close up, where does the small spacer go, and does that looong bolt go in the single hole of triangle bracket then through the alternator then into the head or just ends with a nut, also the bottom bracket I have is shaped like a Y 2 on the engine and one slide (tight) adjuster to the alternator, not a single peice Any more help, Im confused

I have a "leaning in" 'bent' Alternator, you can see its out of line with flywheel.. this car had a A/c in it, but was ripped out, my question is , what hardware is used and what am I missing to stiffen this up? you can see from pic Im using a 3 hole triangle plate, with top hole for A/c un used. and a long shank and shalf through the front of alternator, with nothing holding the front causeing the lean, is this how the other Challengers are, everyone's lean?
what I see is you have the alt/A/C brracket from the back of the a/c comp that has the alt pivot hole
you will need to use the front a/c comp bracket that has the front pivot hole and goes across the top front of the water pump to capture the top middle wp bolt behind it...a/c brackets with out comp mounted up in stock locations
this will give the correct spaceing on the alt pivot bolt and keep it in the stock location
i cant tell if you have the a/c or non a/c pulleys if so you need the non a/c alt brackets like in the explode pic of them that was posted
the grooves look off as you only have 1 belt on the front alt groove of the double groove alt
with the a/c bracket the slide adjuster arm will bolt on the lower wp bolt and swing up to alt
with the non a/c alt brackets the swing arm bolts on the lower wp bolt along with the tri angle piece
alt bracket depends on pulleys used
removeing the a/c comp and use just the brackets is fine with the a/c pullys
you can also just remove the support rib on the neck of the wp,file smooth and run 2 short belts right off the crank to alt and leave the a/c comp and brackets in place as well.

Just so it's clear, I made a picture Move the bracket to the front, and line up the holes as colored:

ok looking at the pic some more.. i think you have the a/c pulleys you have the 1 alt belt straight down to the crank and the ps and wp run on a belt you just need the front alt-a/c bracket to support the alt pivot bolt that will line the belt up straight look at the belt you have on the front groove of alt to the crank...see the rib on the neck of the wp that wont let you run another belt in the rear groove from alt to crank thats the piece you want to remove and file flat and run 2 belts on the alt other option is get non a/c pullys and alt brackets(like in all the pics posted) with correct belts and a single groove alt pully the other thing to remember with the pully ratio is the a/c wp use the smaller pully and 6 vane wp the non a/c pulleys use a larger pully and 8 vane pumps not good to mix match the pully ratio and wp vane count either on high rpm engines,it can cavitate at the wp vanes.

the 3 hole y lower alt bracket is a a/c lower alt bracket it will be used with the rest of the a/c brackets the othe flat swing arm is for non a/c set up cant strees it enuff..dont mix match the stock a/c or non a/c brackets and pullys you just need that 1 a/c front bracket and 1 more belt for the alt and crank to be set up good to go every one is correct showing you the non a/c brackets/pullys and the way it mounts...but you have 2 of the 3 a/c brackets and they are not the same and wont fit any other way.

this bracket wont flip around and bolt up,it has 4 holes, the alt pivot hole is offset from the 2 holes that are right together, the 4th hole is for the a/c comp bolt

So i can't use the lower A/C Y shaped lower bracket with the Non-A/C 3 hole triangle top bracket? and at the end of the long bolt on the top, does it go all the way through and then into the head.. that big pic is nice but it doesn't show.
Im so confused and its a big mess now of mis-matched parts, I have 2 pullies on my alternator but only use 1 since my A/C was ripped out
thanks for the color diagram, but i already tried to flip it, like you showed and it didn't line up at all, and to add the big pic there shows 3 holes on the right of the triangle bracket, I only have 2 in my water pump

ok,yes you may use the lower Y slide bracket with the non a/c alt 3 hole bracket it would share the same lower side bolt on the water pump on non a/c alt bracket the pivot bolt goes into the hole in the head, bracket for front of alt on pivot bolt with spaces in place,2 long side wp bolts holding bracket now the alt is hung.. swing arm goes on lowr side wp bolt to swing up to alt bolt the bracket you need goes across the bolts on the top of wp this is a/c brackets, the alt pivot bolt does not goe in the head but into the offset hole of bracket with pivot bolt and nut...like you have now all you need is a a/c comp front bracket to support the front of the alt and push it back in line you have a belt straight to the crank bypassing the a/c comp now it may need to be a little longer when you get the front bracket dont look at the BB pic posted and when looking at the SB pics they have non a/c brackets and pullys so you cant get that with what you have on there now you could take some flat bar and drill holes in each end then support the front of alt from a water pump bolt, line it up with the belt off and get it supported first then install a correct length belt if you look at the sb with a/c,you see the 2 belts over the top of the a/c comp going to the alt,you need that front bracket on the a/c comp then run the belts down to the crank like you have it now clean up the web/rib on the wp neck and you will get both belts like the a/c used on the alt if you want a true later style non a/c set up you need a non a/c 1 groove wp pully and a 2 groove crank pully for ps they have a single groove crank pully for non a/c manual steer also when your looking so remeber 2 groove for ps also looking at the sb pics some of the non a/c brackets have 3 bolts in the wp and the alt pivot bolt into the head...those are for an early style cast iorn wp.. may or may not work on alum wp but the exploded pic of the brackets are what you want with 2 correct pullys to match for non a/c and ps now you fused?

look at the pic of the 73 cuda you want that front bracket holding the a/c comp see how it goes behind the a/c pully and over to the alt pivot bolt thats what you need and your done just the wp mod to run the 2 short belts just like you have on there with the 1 belt
