I tried this post in the truck section............

I think I'm looking for an oil pan off of a 318 truck/Dakota.
I need a rear sump pan but, need measurements from the
pan rail to the bottom of the pan. (front and rear)

Can anybody help??

Thanks in advance.

just measured a 360 truck pan. it measures 4 1/4" in the front and a tick less than 9" in the rear [tallest part of the sump]. a 318 pan should be similar, as the only difference i am aware of is the main saddle diameter is bigger on the 360.

I guess it depends on if you mean 5.2 magnum or actually a 318 LA block you are planning on putting into a newer truck.

when they 5.2 mag was put in, it was switched to 360 type seals.
so the 5.9 and the 5.2 use the same pan.

If you mean an actual 318 LA block, then the seals for the pan would be different.

It's for my car with a 340 and tubular crossmember.

Thanks for the picture. Now I need to track one down.

I am going to order one of these today:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RNB-264-210/

I can measure it up if you want when it arrives. Not a bad price either.

The rear seal area on a 360 is smaller than on a 318.

The front of the 360 and both ends of the 318 pan are the same.

A pan off of a V-8 Dakota has different overall measurements. Not sure of the seal configuration on Magnum engines.

I've got a pan off of an old mid-70's RV. It has a sump that is just less than 9" too. Like 8&7/8th's. Probably the same thing as in the pic above.

PM sent.
