I need to lube the hood hinges on my Challenger and I was wondering if WD40 might have any negative affects on the paint on my hood hinges. Thanks

it won't hurt the paint at all if it's real paint with hardener in it. spray bomb, I'm not so sure.
I don't know that WD40 is the best for hood hinges though..it's too thin and will drain out in a short time. good for a quick fix, but not long term. I would try a silicone or lithium type grease, something with some more "stick" to it.

I sprayed plenty of wd-40 on painted surfaces "i have bad aim" never seen a problem but i would think wd-40 would be too light. Maybe a white lithium grease would do a better job

I ran out of the white lithium grease, so this is the reason for the question. I will stop and get some. Thanks for the replies.

Actually WD40 is not meant for a lubricant. It is a water displacer. There are many products out there that will be better for you.
It may not be the appropriate lubricant for the job, but WD40 certainly is a lubricant. Anyone who has ever used it can vouch for that. I bet it gets used 10,000:1 as a lubricant or cleaner before other uses. I love WD40!
Their website states:
What does WD-40 do?
WD-40 fulfills five basic functions: 1. CLEANS: WD-40 gets under dirt, grime and grease to clean. It also dissolves adhesives, allowing easy removal of labels, tape and excess bonding material. 2. DISPLACES MOISTURE: Because WD-40 displaces moisture, it quickly dries out electrical systems to eliminate moisture-induced short circuits. 3. PENETRATES: WD-40 loosens rust-to-metal bonds and frees stuck, frozen or rusted metal parts. 4. LUBRICATES: WD-40's lubricating ingredients are widely dispersed and tenaciously held to all moving parts. 5. PROTECTS: WD-40 protects metal surfaces with corrosion-resistant ingredients to shield against moisture and other corrosive elements.
