Question one, can a clutch type carrier from a 742 with 2.76 gears be used with 3.91 gears? Question 2, can the same carrier from the 742 be used in a 489 housing? If the carrier from the 742 can be swapped into a 489 are there any speacial mods other then using the 489 specific gears? Thanks

yes and yes. You would need to switch the carrier bearings to 489 type in order to fit to the 489 case though

No , incorrect , the clutch type bearing used in the 742 must be retained to swap it to the 489 case.
