Hello,

I put a 440 in my Dart last summer. It leaked a bit of fluid at first. When I got it warm from driving it definately leaked more.

For a variety of reasons it sat for almost a year. Now I am working on it on concrete etc. and it is definately a front seal leak.

I pulled it out and I checked and the difference between the seal and the snout was around .025 or less. It spins quite freely and is borderline loose.

The new seal is more more like .065-.070 or so difference between the snout and the seal.

Are there two different types of seals on 727's?

I want the leak fixed so I can drive it.

Thanks, ROB

Yes, thank you for the help. The seal is smaller for sure.

They both are tight, but the one that is .075 different feels right. The one that is in there does not, it is too loose.

It COULD BE that the little spring in the seal is a little tighter.

In any case ...I would use the fresher seal.

I've had several problems with aftermkt ft pump seal and after several diff manufacturers seals leak, I refuse to use one ever again.

I buy the OE ones from mopar, and haven't had one leak yet

The seal that I installed had about 1 hour run time on a new transmission with a smooth convertor snout. It spun almost with a finger.

The new ones are way tighter, more like I remember the fit to be.

I think the one that was in there was wrong or just too big on the ID.

when you R&R it,make sure the spring did not pop off the back of the seal when it was installed,if its not there..make sure you find/dig it out of there before a new seal/TC goes in.

I prefer to use the mopar seals from the dealer when doing a front pump seal R&R..
