Here is a pic of the engine compartment, you can see some of the Rallye Green beneath the wiper motor.

If Rallye Green was not released for the GTX, you might expect to see a 99 paint code or something special with the VON. Neither is there. If it was released for the GTX, you think you'd see more cars in this color and from other plants also.

Surely there are more 69 GTX's with Rallye Green, when was the color actually released?

Spring (Special) of 1969, so Lynch Road assembled cars would be around (guessing) 25XXXX on the VIN's and I'd doubt that any brochures that were already out notified anyone that was shopping that Rallye Green was available on a GTX and most of the color sheets with 97 on it would have been in the service department or the paint shop. They did a sales bulletin on the color but I think it was more geared toward the Road Runner and Super Bee with the Dodge version.

all of the '69 paint info; and I think whenever I've seen Rallye Green on a '69 paint chart the chart was printed in the Fall of 1969 ('70 models already out) or in 1970 or later.

It keeps getting more and more interesting with this GTX in Rallye Green...I swear this was probably supposed to be my A12 Road Runner and that GTX was supposed to be Y4 Spanish Gold...

I think that GTX should have looked like this in Y4 and with the GTX trim and they got the broadcast sheets mixed up

According to this undated, but by the context of the memo sent in January 1969, it was released February 1 for the Road Runner only. The four color chart for the A12 cars also state Road Runner only.

paint code 97 PIB release-page 1
paint code 97 PIB release-page 2

The earliest 97 car I have on file has a 3/10 SPD.

(It's a common belief that F6 and 97 were released with the A12s but both colors were available a before the A12s came out.)

If 97 was a color released only for the Road Runner but ordered on a Dart or Barracuda, I think you would see 99 or special VON coding.

That's what's odd about this car; there's no special coding for the paint.

Maybe we have one car that was destined to be a RR wind up a GTX and a car destined to be a GTX that wound up a Road Runner.
