I've been asked by a few of you who bought my dual-speaker brackets about the OEM speaker mounting screws, so maybe this will clear up a few questions regarding them. They are about 1/2" long, and as best I can determine are #10-24 (checked with my thread gauge.) They are specially shaped with square shoulders and the heads are very thin with no slots for a screwdriver. They work in conjunction with a thin, stamped clip to fasten the speaker to the dash. The clip slips into a slotted hole in the dash near the defroster vent, and the nuts are speed nuts.

Very observant of you.
Well, to be honest, I haven't been working on cars much since my son took his Dart Sport to college. Guess it's about time I start my own project.

I'd be worried about some enterprising criminal taking an image of your finger and mastering a fingerprint to commit crimes. Maybe I have watched too much TV.

Hey Sport: Do you know where i can get some of those clips? It is the same clip that holds the taillite lenses in on the 72-74 barracudas. I need 4 of them.

Cudaboone,

Unfortunately, no, I don't have a clue. I happened to have these two clips/screws/nuts stashed away for my son's A-body projects.

The only place I can suggest that you check with is Au-ve-co Products (Auto-Vehicle Parts Co. in Cold Spring, KY). I have one of their small "Body Hardware & Specialty Fastener" flip charts. It's full of common screws, nuts, retainers, and clips of all sorts.

Good luck,
Jerry
