For the 1994-1995 model years
will the rear Overdrive Unit
off a 2wd 47RH automatic from the V10 or Cummins
bolt onto without modification
a 2wd 46RH automatic behind a 360 V8?

Is the only difference that the
47RH Overdrive Unit
has an extra clutch disk?

Are any of the ATF passage ways drilled in the shaft of a larger size on the 47RH Overdrive Unit,
or is the spring of a different rating?

my guess is , Yes it will bolt on. BUT, I've never tired to either.

But typically 47RH trans are considerably just heavier/better built internally.

I';ve never looked at it from a comparison angle so this is all nothing more than a guess on my part..
But,,,,'I think' the OD sprag is a heavier duty unit, more clutches, and the shaft lube passages may be drilled larger to accomidate said changes.

And If I remember right the main / output shaft on the 47 series OD units are larger than the 46 series OD units . Thus requiring a larger driveshaft

A year or so back I repaired a '98 46re 4wd that had lost lube and basically welded the O/D unit solid. Replaced the bad parts (int. shaft incl.) with stuff from a diesel trans, ('97 IIRC, was all I could find used locally). Other than needing a different piston spacer ring, it went together without a hitch.

In order to know what you want, you'll probably have to find out what you don't want.

That is all you would need to do , other than the different clutch count , 47 has more clutches , it'll bolt right on and hold more mower . just make sure you follow the manual on how to check the required spacer needed or you'll smoke the OD clutches
