Trying to install the rear sway bar on my Challenger and I'm having trouble compressing the end link bushings enough to allow me to get the nut started. I have put the bushings in the freezer hoping they would compress enough but they don't. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Joe

Do you have a valve spring compressor like this one? Might work if you can get it on there. Just a thought.

I don't have one but may have access to one. That's a possibility. Thanks for the tip.

Hey John,

They are rubber. Before I put them in the freezer they had more "give". Putting them in the deep freeze made them shrink but now they don't "give". Trying to install them on the spring bracket, I can get them all on and once the bottom washer goes on I no longer have room to get the nut started. I had clamp that I use to do wood work and tried to use that but the end link kept wobbling and I never could get a strong enough clamp down on it.

From memory, its a 3/8" bolt that clamps them. How about a little longer bolt?

I've used big (Jumbo) channellocks & I've used a wood clamp..

I've also used a small bottle jack if your working on the floor, put the jack under the bolt and push it a little then you should be able to get the nut started, I have a hoist and a pit jack to put pressure on the bolt

This , if it is just a bolt I would just get a little loger bolt , or the next size up and trim as necessary then later on it you must have the more correct looking bolt try swapping the shorter one in.

But it's not just a bolt, the threaded area is smaller than the bolt shank so it's special... It really is an easy task to do it right why make it difficult...

Never dealt with these so I don't know about the special bolt .

Nevermind then, didn't realize they used that on the rear also.

I put that type link bolt on the front of my Dart, don't remember having any problem putting it together.Maybe trim a little off one of the bushings ?
