I want to get my TQ rebuilt but need to get a good match for a intake that will work.I wa s told on a previous post that the Edelbrock Performer will work, since it is a spread bore design same as the TQ.I was always under the impression that the Performer intake was more for stock engines. My 340 has 9;8 compression, Edelbrock heads, 477 lift/268 duration cam, TTI headers, 21/2 inc exhaust and automatic 727. So will a Performer work or is there a older stock intake that will work even tough it is heaver. I also want to be able to use the electric choke setup. My duster is just a street driver does no see strip racing. So I guess all you TQ carb guys what is your suggestions for a good intake to match my TQ?

You don't need ANY " provision" for that at-all !!

The LD340 IS the best for a "lukewarm" 340-360 motor. Not too good with the "stroker" LA's. However, the Holley Street Dominator, despite the lesser popularity, has become a good street piece for the 340-360 as well as a BETTER manifold for the "stroker" LA crowd WITH the TQ!! Some "food" for , IF you decide to "enlarge" that 340. Just ask DOC!!

For the little that you have done to that engine the factory TQ intake or the Performer will be fine.
He has aftermarket heads, IMO that fact alone warrants an aftermarket intake. The regular performer IMO is only good for very mild applications with stock unported heads. The LD340 would be a good choice for a combo with stock heads with a little porting. With aftermarket heads I'd be looking for something a step above. Performer rpm with an adapter and the transition smoothed out would be decent, if you have the hood clearance for everything. A used holley street dominator for small block if you can find one would be a decent choice too.

I bet its a 13 sec. car at best. TQ on a stock intake will easily support a high 12 second car. Adapters are a waste. I doubt he's going to do what is needed to open up the other manifolds to accept the TQ the right way. The SD will hurt the bottom end. Its a cruiser, not a racer. The only thing he will get is a noticably sogger bottom end with any of the other manifolds.

The "soggier" bottom end power might be due to the wrong manifold (power range) selected for the combo, not neccessarily the type. IMO the SD is NOT a bad street manifold at all, and with his present cam, EDDY heads, power can only be STRONGER. The TQ, when used with the SD, will have better torque "thru-the gears" due to it's small primaries/huge secondaries design. An efficient carb when set up right!!

Haven't been on web site for a week or so was on vacation.thanks for the information on a good intake for my TQ based on my engine spec. So I guess the choices will be a Holley Dominator,LD340 or a Weinad. In regards to a stock intake who would that compare to the others? Any certain year better over another? Any problems with it matching up to my Eddy heads? Thanks,

I have a stock 360 TQ style manifold on my car with the divider milled down, and a little clean up work on the plenum and it runs much stronger than a performer. This is on a mild 318 with 915 heads and small cam though. I like the sleeper look though. I would think an RPM intake with adapterm would be a better fit for your car though.
Anyone ever flow, a stock tq intake?
