R/T1968R/T OP super stock Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 734 New York	Picked up a low mileage 1971 400 motor. It is the #230 casting thick web block. Was the compression ratio the same as all 400s....8.2 I heard the early 400s were closer to 9.1 Any truth to this?

What he said , piston in that block is about .100 in the hole, you'll be lucky to have 8.0. I just ran some numbers , had to ASSuME a few numbers but compression is approx. 7.63 - 7.75 depending on head chamber volume . Last edited by JohnRR; 04/13/11 03:07 PM.
