I did some searching, but to no avail.

If my memory serves, my 74-360 Challenger should have a 727, and I also believe it should bolt to a 440 also, with a swap to the correct converter...?

I guess my 2+ year haitas didn't do me well, I believe I looked into this when I purchased a BB water pump housing in preperation for my son to want to upgrade to a 440 as soon as we get the car driving....

I also think all I need are BB motor mounts for the swap?

Thanks

Allen

Big block uses a different bellhousing pattern.

There are small block and big block 727 transmissions.

727 convertors usually interchange, some years are different.

You need a different trans to bolt to a big block if yours was behind a 360.

Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

Thanks

For some reason I thought there were 727's with both patterns for the 74's....

I think the converter would be wrong for the ~ 500 hp the 440 should produce, but I do have 2 BB 727's but both have no low band apply valve bodies in them.

Thanks

Allen

They both have manaul shift valve bodies ? If you don't want that you can just swap in the one from your 74 , wit ha shift kit added , or buy one from Cope.

Thanks John.

Sounds like a good deal on the swap, should be easy. I have my CRT transmission in the Cuda.......

Sounds like an engine-trans swap is in the works. My son got the Carb on the 360 rebuilt and called to tell me the car has Posi.... I told him NS shirlock, the tag on the diff says 3.55 SG.... So possibly the 360 may have enough steam if he got rubber in both wheels.... But he is , for once, researching the net on HP for the 8:1 440, ported 916 heads and timeslips...

Thanks

Allen
