barracuda7 OP member B Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 151 Northern Virginia	I buy new set of piston Rings but I dont know how to install Oil Ring. This is my first time rebuilt. There are balck and white indicators at each of end gap(picture below), instruction stated that they are BUTT OR LOCK TOGETHER, what does that mean, how can I lock or butt them together? Do I need to remove that black&white thing and overlap them?? Thanks

JohnRR I Win Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 74,942 U.S.S.A.	Butt, means they TOUCH, do not remove them. Install that piece first the ends touch , not lock, then the other 2 rings .

Kern Dog Striving for excellence Joined: Feb 2010 Posts: 18,493 Granite Bay CA	Its also advised to position the ring gaps 120 degrees apart. TOP oil ring @ 10:00 MIDDLE corrugated oil ring at 2:00 Bottom oil ring @ 6:00.
