i have the TQ on the car and running but it seems very lean. even after idleing it around the plugs are white. i had a header off yesterday to change the starter ans the exhaust valves are white also. when driven it seems to run out of fuel and has a stumble. how can i richen this thing up. i have already taped the holes by the choke plate and have the mixture screws out as far as possible. 78 stock 440 ch4b adapter plate and TQ that is original to the eng.

thanks Shane

it takes about 5-10 secs to nose over at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle.

I would look on the SECONDARY side of the carb. 5-10 seconds ? .. that is on that side of it. How do you have the secondary AV adjusted? How is your fuel pressure too?

The crab sounds like a sweety-pie on the primary side ...I would not touch it.

i have not touched the air valve yet.should i try to tighten or loosen it. should i still adjust the metering tree? is it running too lean with the white plugs and valves?
i will have to check the fuel pressure. stock fuel pump nothing fancy.

If it is a jetting issue, test this way:
drive the vehicle, and as soon as the nose-over starts, back off the throttle just a bit(not much)and if the engine picks up again, jetting
richer is a must. If the engine does not pick up, then the problem is
something else such as fuel flow or pressure, David.

almost ferrgot.... leave the primary side alone for now. LOTS of Berri Bumz would KILL for a carb as sweet as that one on the primary side..
