Looked at a restored, matching numbers 1969 charger 500 today with a XS29L9B starting vin and I want to verify thats it's real. I know that the very early 500's were R/T's sent out to Creative to get the 500 treatment.. Question is: What VIN number range I guess you could say were these R/T's? This car is very early production, but I want to make sure... When did the XX29 VIN's start? There are some real weird or unique features on this car - what should I look for?

I've seen a mix of XS and XX 500's in the 210xxx range.

Ask over at dodgecharger .com or Pm hemi68charger(troy) here on moparts. He knows a ton about those 500's.

I've seen VINs for XX 500s as low as 110xxx.
Be leary of any 500 that was in central FL in the late '80s. In '88, I came across a 500 in a junk yard the had all the 500 parts and VIN numbers removed. The number on the trunk drip rail was a cut out area about 1'x2', the car it went may show signs of it being spliced back in. I wish I could recall the color of the 500 shell, that would be a big help to spotting a possible rebody out there.

The one I am looking at is F5 green with green int. Does not look like it has been rebodied or cut up. So far from what I have found out in the net, it is legit.. Sent a PM to hemi68charger, maybe he can shed some light for me.
