I need to repair a rust area on my subframe (69 Roadrunner). I was on Auto Rust Tech. webs site and saw what they have. Anybody use them or maybe someone different? I almost ordered the piece I need from Auto Rust Tech. but they don't seem to take credit cards as payment. So I figured I'd shop around before I go and get a money order.

They worked on my 70 E. Frame connectors, torque boxes and vinyl roof related rust repair in their shop... even a California car can get the rust bug with a vinyl roof. I can vouch for the fact that they do (or did) take cc's. You may have to call them though. They did good work for me.

I used an Auto Rust Technicians cap for the drivers side front frame rail on my Cuda. The fit was fine, and it has held up well for me - I put it on in the late 90s, and it hasn't given me any problems since.

However, I could have made my own frame rail cap for about 10 percent of what they charged me. Their caps are just 3 pieces of steel welded together so that they fit over your existing frame. There's nothing special about them. You could make your own for 5 - 10 bucks and a little time.

Visually, the caps are ugly. That doesn't bother me, though, since it's under the car and not easily noticeable, and my car is a fifty footer anyway. But if you have a nice car, you might think twice about a cap, since repop frame rails are available now. In the late 90s, the only thing available was used frame rails, so the cap was a good choice then for me. But if I had to do it again, I would get a new frame rail and do it right.

I used their crossmember cap and torque boxes and had them make me some 14 gauge inner rockers. they are in my 69 charger 6 years ago there was not anything factory replacement .but I wanted a solid frame with out puting in a cage its a street car 700 horse stroker motor .for the track I would take my altered , because real race cars dont have doors (LoL) , had dave make me some custom peaces worked out great. my play cars as in 2 dont go in the trailer.

since most frane repair patches need custom tayloring to fit correctly, get some heavy poster board. make your templates for the area being repaired. this is a very easy thing to do; it only takes a little time. make sure the crusty area[s] are trimmed to solid material. you can then use your templates to cut fresh 12-14ga. steel patches for a fraction of the cost of "patch panels", even if you have to pay the steel supplier to cut'em for you. and they WILL FIT BETTER ! weld 'em in-job done !
