may as well hijack my own thread. how much of an overbore can these blocks take? Is it like a wedge being limited to .030 or .060, or can it go more after being checked out?

All blocks should be thoroughly sonic tested before boring, stuff happens when you don't know. Are you talking about a old OEM Hemi block, a new Mopar replacement block or what block are you asking about?

it is an oem 66 or 67 I am looking at. It says it has been checked out and the final bore would be 4.380. Any chance the walls are that strong?

4.38 or 4.28... 4.28 is .030 over & while it should be sonic checked it's probably fine... 4.38 is .130 over & that isn't gonna work....

I have sonic tested a lot of Mopar blocks, old and new, including some of the new (pre World brand blocks) replacement blocks from Mopar, not the newer World blocks as all of the cast iron World blocks are thick wall siameze bores. I don't think any of the old OEM ones will bore safely beyond 4.320 that I tested Of course it depends on how much cylinder wall thickness you want left after the bore I like at least .150 minimum on the major thrust side of the cylinders on a mild street performance motor
